Survey results: Manukau Red Bin rollout
October 2017
Background
Auckland Council is working towards making it’s rubbish collection services consistent across the region. As part of this, rubbish collections in Manukau changed from bags to bins in September 2017. We wanted to ask residents how the new service was going and to see what improvements could be made for future rollouts of the bin service.
How we will use the results
The People’s Panel findings, along with other feedback, has been used to improve the process for requesting a different bin size to the standard 120L bin. In subsequent bin roll-out areas:
- Requests can now be made earlier and online, rather than just by phone
- An option for a smaller 80L bin has been added (previously only a larger 240L bin was available)
Methodology
- 3,380 panellists received an invitation
- 934 surveys were completed (28% response rate)
- Survey was open 17-26 October 2017
This survey was run on Auckland Council's People's Panel, a quick and easy way for Aucklanders to help shape Auckland by taking part in short surveys.
